Football legend Wayne Rooney is considering a switch to boxing for a one-off bout. The former Everton and Manchester United star has been in talks about competing on a Misfits show, which features YouTube stars and influencers like KSI and Logan Paul, says the Daily Star.
Rooney, who was last month sacked as Birmingham City boss after just 15 games, is now thinking about swapping football boots for boxing gloves. The 38-year-old is waiting to see if another managerial job comes up after his time with at St Andrew's, US franchise DC United and League One Derby County.
But a high-profile boxing match could be next for Rooney, who was part of an amateur club in Liverpool when he was a kid. He even joined Manchester City fan Ricky Hatton for his ring walk before the Hitman's fight with Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas in 2007.

Rooney has previously reached out to Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn and jokingly asked him to set up a fight. He's also been in touch with KSI about facing him, the YouTube personality revealed in December 2022.
The Misfits boxing event is not under the rules of the British Boxing Board of Control. The event, to be broadcast on streaming channel DAZN, feature a mix of social media celebrities and have sparked controversy due to ugly scenes at press conferences and weigh-ins.
Rooney once pulled out a memorable boxing celebration after scoring for Manchester United against Tottenham in 2015. An overnight video emerged showing the legendary England striker being knocked out by former United defender Phil Bardsley during a joke sparring session in his kitchen.
