His four previous years with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga stood as testament to his talents as a negotiator, and that translated to his new club last summer when the club reacted to circumstances in order to bring in Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch, all on the back of previous work to sign Alexis Mac Allister.
But now with it confirmed Schmadtke will leave his post along with the rest of Klopp's backroom staff, there is evidently a hint of confusion about the club's current predicament.
