A Prosecutor's Office is requesting almost five years in prison for former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti according to a report in Spain.
Ancelotti, one of the most-decorated bosses in European football, having won the Champions League a record four times as a coach, was in charge of Everton for 18 months between December 2019-May 2021.
Relevo claims the Madrid Provincial Prosecutor's Office has requested four years and nine months in prison for the 64-year-old, who has been coach of Real Madrid since quitting Goodison Park, for having defrauded the Treasury of more than one million euros in the years 2014 (386,361 euros) and 2015 (675,718 euros), during his first spell at the helm at the Bernabeu.
The article states that: “According to the indictment, the Italian, despite stating his status as a resident in Spain for tax purposes and stating that his domicile was in Madrid, only recorded in his tax returns the personal work remuneration received from Real Madrid. Madrid and omitted the performance corresponding to the exploitation of its image rights that it had transferred to other entities. The Public Ministry charges him with two crimes against the Public Treasury.

“Ancelotti signed an employment contract with Real Madrid on July 4, 2013 for the period between July 5, 2013 and June 30, 2016.
