Liverpool’s draw against Manchester United should be put down as a ‘freak’ result, according to former striker Peter Crouch.
The Reds were handed a blow in the title race last weekend thanks to a 2-2 draw with their rivals. Jurgen Klopp’s side were totally in control after Luis Diaz’s opener in the first half.
But United looked to have turned the game around in the second half when Bruno Fernandes jumped on a mistake by Jarell Qunasah. Kobbie Mainoo scored United’s second goal just a few minutes later.
Liverpool weren’t done there though and as they were pushing for the equaliser were awarded a penalty. Mo Salah made no mistake from the spot, drawing the Reds level at 2-2.

Despite taking something from the game, the result did hand the initiative in the title race to Arsenal. The Gunners are above Liverpool in the Premier League table on goal difference.
But Crouch has said that too much emphasis is being placed on Liverpool failing to take their chances at Old Trafford. He made a point of how the goals are now being spread around the squad more after being ‘spoilt’ by the previous striking trio.
“I think too much is being talked about this Manchester United result,” he told TNT Sport before the side’s Europa League quarter-final against Atalanta. “I feel like it was a freak result.
“It was two wonder strikes, a mistake from Quansah and Liverpool were wasteful at times. We have been spoiled by having Mane, Salah and Firmino being so clinical over the years, but they are not quite like that Liverpool attack.
“What they are doing is spreading the goals.
