Some Arsenal fans were left furious when Gabriel Jesus was caught watching Manchester City's match with Real Madrid after his side's defeat to Bayern Munich. They saw it as a show of misplaced priorities after the Gunners, led by Mikel Arteta, failed to secure a spot in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday.
The tie ended with a 3-2 win on aggregate for the opposing team at the Allianz Arena, thanks to Joshua Kimmich who scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory in Germany on Wednesday. Meanwhile Jesus, who came on for the final 20 minutes of the game, opted to watch the showdown between his former team and Real after Arsenal's defeat to Bayern.
The match ended in a tie at the Etihad, with Man City dumped out on penalties with the game finishing 1-1 after extra time. Jesus' decision angered some fans, reports the Mirror, who have since taken to social media to have their say on the 2022 summer signing from City, whose compatriots Ederson, Vinicius and Rodrygo were playing in the match.
Jesus had been with City for five years, putting the ball in the back of net 95 times in his 236 appearances across all competitions. His efforts helped steer Pep Guardiola's team to four Premier League titles.
However, in July 2022 the Brazilian left the Etihad for North London in £45m transfer. But his tenure at Arsenal so far has been marred by injuries.
Jesus has made 64 appearances for Arsenal and has racked up 19 goals, but has struggled with injury and has not been prolific. Arteta acknowledged a lack of goals from forwards after the Bayern game.
