Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has called out England boss Gareth Southgate for failing to pick his defender Joe Gomez for the international side.
The 26-year-old has been a big player for the Reds this season with injuries plaguing Klopp's squad. The versatile defender played at left-back on Sunday as Liverpool drew 1-1 with Manchester City at Anfield.
Gomez's performance drew plenty of praise from those watching including Klopp who gave an enthusiastic post-match interview with Sky Sports. As the German head coach rattled off how proud he was of his squad, the Liverpool boss made sure to make a point of the former Charlton Athletic player.

Klopp gives Liverpool injury boost
"Joe Gomez. Gareth, honestly?" Klopp asked concerning Gomez's lack of caps for England. Despite being an ever-present in the Liverpool first-team squad since arriving at the club, the defender has only made 11 appearances for the full national team.
However, this could change on Thursday when Southgate announces his squad for the March international friendlies against Brazil and Belgium. The Three Lions are currently short on left-backs with Manchester United's Luke Shaw among those sidelined at the moment.
Last week, Klopp pleaded the case further for Gomez's inclusion, stating: "I am not standing here telling Gareth who he should pick. But you can get one player and have four positions covered. Wonderful."
Such a versatile option would be beneficial to Southgate in the summer when he takes England to the European Championships in Germany. The tournament is expected to be his last in charge of the national team with his contract set to expire at the end of the competition.
