Peter Schmeichel has concurred with Gary Neville's comparison of Rasmus Hojlund to Erling Haaland following the Manchester United striker’s brace against Luton Town on Sunday.
The double helped his team to a 2-1 triumph and means he has now scored seven goals in his last six Premier League games, having only broken his duck in the competition on Boxing Day. He is United’s top scorer with 13 goals across all competitions.
Upon his arrival last summer, comparisons were naturally made between Hojlund and Haaland with both being tall, blonde-haired Scandinavian strikers. Hojlund has enjoyed considerably less first-team minutes across his career having made 245 fewer senior appearances than Haaland (117 vs 362).

Despite the discrepancy in pitch time, Neville believes Hojlund already looks to be of the same ilk as Haaland, Speaking on his Sky Sports podcast, the former United captain said: "Hojlund looked like a Haaland in the making - that power, that strength and aggression in his running. I've always liked that about a Manchester United centre-forward."
Meanwhile, ex-teammate Schmeichel said that the comparison between the two players is valid. He noted how the duo have taken similar career paths en route to the Premier League, albeit Hojlund took quicker to get there.
Speaking of Hojlund to Premier League Productions, the former goalkeeper said: “In a way, he’s very raw. There is so much more he can learn. Already, what he’s doing now is amazing, I’m really impressed with him.
