Gary Neville has shutdown three potential managers linked with the Manchester United job should Erik ten Hag get sacked from the role.
United's part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will reportedly assess his options if the Red Devils fail to secure a place in the Champions League.
England manager Gareth Southgate has been linked with the job, while Graham Potter and Gary O'Neil have also been mentioned.
However, Southgate insisted he will refuse to speak to any club while in charge of the Three Lions and the FA are eager to keep him on until 2026 with a fresh deal.
Speaking on The Overlap about United's options, Neville said: 'As well as Gareth [Southgate] has done with England, I've never seen that as a fit with Man Utd.
'I don't see Graham Potter as a fit and that's been a strong rumour too. I don't see the fit between Gary O'Neil and United.
'Instinctively as a fan, you hear a name and you feel it or you don't feel it. It's not a feeling I've had. I've not woke up and thought they look like a Man United manager.'
Neville went on to state he would rather Ten Hag stayed in control of the Manchester United than handing the reins over to Potter, O'Neil or Southgate.
Neville said: 'I would like to see him stay in the sense that I'm not quite sure at the moment who else is out there
'If Jurgen Klopp was on the market or you could get a world-class manager in, it might be a different story.
'But when you look at the options, we could end up with someone who isn't as good as Erik ten Hag and hasn't got his pedigree.
'Ten Hag also has two years' of experience at Old Trafford now. The fact he's had that good first season and then a difficult one means he should be better for it.
