Some Chelsea supporters have lost a bit of patience with Mykhailo Mudryk following his latest display for the Blues in the 3-1 defeat to West Ham United on Sunday afternoon
Mauricio Pochettino jumped to Mykhailo Mudryk's defence after the Chelsea attacker failed to make much of an impact in the defeat to West Ham United on Sunday.
The 22-year-old, who cost Chelsea what could eventually rise to £88million in the January transfer window, was brought on at half-time for the injured Carney Chukwuemeka. Prior to Mudryk coming on, the Blues had been controlling and dominating the Hammers, but the scores were level at 1-1.
The Ukraine international was brought on to play as a No.10 behind Nicolas Jackson. It is a position we are not used to seeing Mudryk occupy, with the attacker normally operating on the left-hand side. However, he failed to make an impact in the role and was then shifted back out to the wing not so long into the second-half.
He had two real opportunities to score but both were wasted in what was a really frustrating attacking display for Chelsea at the London Stadium. Mudryk had one moment where he did well to shift the ball onto his right foot and it looked like he was about to smash it past Alphonse Areola but rather unfortunately he lost his footing and fell to the ground.
There was another moment where Raheem Sterling clipped the ball to the far post and found Mudryk but the Ukrainian's volleyed effort was wayward, leaving West Ham supporters to cheer and mock the winger. It was a moment where some Chelsea fans lost a bit of patience with Mudryk.
Taking to Reddit, one user said: "I think I've lost my patience with him. I'll keep rooting for his success but I'm not going to justify this purchase anymore".
