The build-up to this weekend's Carabao Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool has been dominated by injury talk. Most of it, to the annoyance of a lot of Blues supporters, has been about the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp was missing a host of his first-team players on Wednesday evening as Liverpool came from behind to beat Luton Town at Anfield. Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones were among those sidelined.
Meanwhile, at Chelsea, while the situation on the injury front is slowly easing, Mauricio Pochettino could still be without eight players on Sunday afternoon at Wembley. With that said, with both managers down to the barebones, football.london takes a look at how each side may set up at the weekend.
Robert Sanchez has recently returned to full fitness after a knee injury but he missed the draw at Manchester City last weekend due to a «personal problem». Pochettino will confirm on Friday afternoon, in his press conference, whether or not Sanchez will be available for selection this weekend but Djordje Petrovic is expected to get the nod regardless on Sunday.
Reece James remains sidelined with a hamstring problem. The Chelsea captain, while progressing well, has not been given a specific time frame on when he might return, with those around him reluctant to give that information, football.london understands.
Fortunately, though, James has not been missed too much this time because of the form of Malo Gusto. The 20-year-old right-back has been sensational in recent matches and looks a shoe-in to start on the right-hand side at Wembley.
