The BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2023 will return to screens on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, and Liverpool will be represented in the shortlist thanks to heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, while Sir Kenny Dalglish is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Johnson-Thompson is among the list of nominees after a historic year in which she claimed her second World Championship title. Stuart Broad, Mary Earps, Frankie Dettori, Alfie Hewitt and Rory McIlroy are the other candidates looking to join the historic list of winners.
Gary Lineker, Clare Balding, Gabby Logan and Alex Scott will present the 70th edition of the annual awards. The show will be broadcast on BBC One from 7pm.
England goalkeeper Earps is the favourite to scoop the award, which would see her join Lionesses team-mate Beth Mead as a winner - following their European Championship heroics in 2022.
Broad, who retired from men's professional cricket in the summer after a successful career, is among those trailing the Manchester United shot-stopper, according to the bookmakers.
The Sports Personality of the Year award is not the only accolade up for grabs, with Young Sports Personality of the Year, Team and Coach of the Year, Unsung Hero, the Helen Rollason Award, and the Lifetime Achievement and World Sport Star awards also due to be presented.
Voting for the winner of the main award will take place during the show on Tuesday.
