There’s a big difference between Dominic Calvert-Lewin missing his big opportunity against Aston Villa and the likes of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland or Liverpool’s Mo Salah doing the same thing.
Aston Villa have turned a huge corner and are flying high in the table so we knew it was going to be a difficult game. Even though Unai Emery’s men were the better footballing side, we had the best chance.
I thought the lads started well and for the first 15 minutes or so we didn’t let them settle. We made it a bit rough and ready which suited our game a bit more with a fast pace, causing Villa a few problems here and there.
As the game settled down, you could see what Villa were trying to do, they were trying to copy and paste what they did to us in August, trying to find the holes in between our midfield and defence for John McGinn. We struggled to stop that and they were very clever as it only took three passes and they were in behind us.
I’ve got to give our players credit, they dug in there and put their bodies on the line with a few cuts and bruises on the way. The fight and the willingness was good to see.

Goals change games and momentum and Arnaut Danjuma found space to play a wonderful outside of the foot pass through to Calvert-Lewin and you just thought he was going to burst the net. He created an angle as the keeper was sprinting back and did everything right besides lifting the ball.
