Dele Alli has opened up on why he was relishing the prospect of working under Frank Lampard at Everton - and why he thinks it didn't work for his former manager.
It has been more than 18 months since the last time Dele played for Everton, with his last appearance coming in August 2022. He signed for the Blues in January of that year from Tottenham Hotspur initially on a free transfer.
Everton moved to sign Dele on the same day that Lampard was appointed as the club's manager following the departure of Rafa Benitez. He has since made just 13 appearances for the club, having spent last season on loan in Turkey with Besiktas.
Dele is currently on the sidelines recovering from a groin injury after undergoing surgery earlier this year, and there is no sign of whether the midfielder will feature again for Everton before his contract expires at the end of the season. The 28-year-old appeared as a guest on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football for their coverage of Everton's 6-0 defeat to Chelsea.

The Everton midfielder was asked to talk about his experience working under current manager Sean Dyche at Goodison Park, despite not yet making an appearance for the Blues boss.
"I think it’s a very good relationship and it’s as good as I can imagine from not being able to play and being injured since I have come back," said Dele on Sky Sports when asked about Dyche. "He [Dyche] has supported me a lot and we have had some very good conversations."
