I rented a designer dress worth £160 and plan to do the same for the Grand National

The Grand National is just days away, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who hasn't sorted an outfit.

Like many people, I've always been a last minute shopper. Even though I've known about an event weeks or maybe months in advance, I'll still leave it until the final few days to get something sorted.

And after frantically finding something to wear, the outfit will then hang in my wardrobe after being worn once. So when it came to my best friend's baby shower in March I decided to try something different and hired a dress.

In January 2023, the ECHO reported on the realities of renting clothes and how Emilia Bona, a former ECHO journalist, rented designer dresses for £40. Sites and apps including Hurr, By Rotation and Selfridges were mentioned as businesses that offer designer clothing, accessories, shoes and more for rent.

Hurr offers thousands of brands including Sister Jane, The Vampire's Wife, Stella McCartney and Chanel. There are options to filter through brands, size and colour.

The site also comes with the option to only show items from top lenders. A top lender "must have had 20 or more completed successful rentals in the last 12 months". I found a stunning floral Queens of Archive dress from a 'top lender' which has an RRP of £160.

The site has the option to rent items for four, eight, 16 or 30 days. As I was planning to wear the dress once, I opted for four days priced at £34.10.

The site advises to select the start date from one or two days before you plan to wear it. As the baby shower was on the Saturday, I chose to start the rental from Friday, so I could send the dress back
