I have been critical of this Everton team in the past, but the best thing about them at the moment is that they continue to prove me wrong.
Saturday’s win over Burnley was another step in the right direction. It has also been a long time since we have looked so comfortable.
After a shaky opening 15 minutes, once we settled into the game, we never looked back, and it was an important victory, as we need to beat the sides in and around us.
But the one thing I can’t get away from is how the players continue to prove me wrong. I don’t think I’m the only one who has had doubts about members of the squad.

However, the players who have been playing on a regular basis continue to set the standards that we have been calling for for some time. But what really impressed me at the weekend was the way those who have not been playing came in and did so well.
When team news dropped, I am sure many of us were left scratching our heads, wondering how we were going to set up. And with that, a little bit of doubt crept in.
We don’t have the biggest of squads, so when we are missing a few players, you notice it, but the lads who came in at the weekend were absolutely superb.
The performances were not only a testament to the players themselves but also to Sean Dyche and his coaching staff for the way they clearly managed the squad.
The personal touch that the manager has and the togetherness that he has created is shining through.
