Erling Haaland is facing a race against time to make his comeback for Manchester City upon their return to Premier League action tonight.
The Norwegian has been struggling with a foot injury ahead of the defending champions' trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton.
Haaland has not played since sustaining a stress issue in his foot during the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa three weeks ago.
He missed the City's next three domestic matches against Luton, Red Star Belgrade, and Crystal Palace.
The striker did travel with the rest of the squad to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup, but a little-known FIFA rule meant he didn't play a single minute as City claimed another trophy.
Haaland is set to miss out on the City starting XI on Merseyside but could be a late inclusion into the matchday squad.
It has been reported that Haaland did not take part in training on Boxing Day and therefore won't feature from the first whistle.
However, the former Borussia Dortmund superstar's extra rest at the Club World Cup means he could be in line for some minutes.
Boss Pep Guardiola has remained tight-lipped about Haaland’s fitness, but his star forward did train individually in Saudi Arabia.
This Premier League clash will take place on Wednesday, December 27.
Kick-off at Goodison Park is scheduled for 8:15pm.
talkSPORT will have live and exclusive coverage from Merseyside presented by Adrian Durham.
Commentary will be provided by Joe Shennan and former Leeds Women's striker Lucy Ward.
