It has been a difficult week for Liverpool with the Reds dropping two points at newly promoted Luton Town before an abject performance in France saw them lose 3-1 to Toulouse.
That Europa League defeat left Jurgen Klopp with questions to answer ahead of a Premier League clash with Brentford at Anfield and a trip to Man City looming after the international break.
Our LFC fans jury have had their say on the past week as they look ahead to the visit of Thomas Frank's team.
Defensive reinforcements a priority
Andrew Cullen: After a bleak performance against Luton, Liverpool fans were subjected to a still further abject performance against Toulouse.
It was surprising just how toothless Liverpool were against Toulouse, especially when you consider how Liverpool fared only weeks earlier when the sides met at Anfield.
Although there were numerous changes made to the team, in the second half at least, Liverpool had an array of enviable attacking talent on the pitch.
Liverpool’s attack has been rightly applauded this season for its ruthlessness, but against Luton and Toulouse, there was a timidness in front of goal.
Liverpool’s defence did not fare any better against Luton and Toulouse. Defensive fragility continues to rear its head this season; it is clear to most that if Liverpool are to challenge for major honours, defensive reinforcements are a priority.
If the last two performances are merely dips in form, fans will not be too concerned. We just need to stand the storm. Concerns will grow, however, if this funk in performance persists.
Even if Liverpool fans have had little to smile about on the pitch this week, news of the release of Luis Manuel Diaz is enough to return smiles.
A productive jolt in the right direction
