Cork's Jake O'Brien continues to make an impact with Lyon as he scored twice in their five goal thriller against Lens on Saturday night.
Unfortunately for the Youghal native, it wasn't enough to prevent his team from falling to a 3-2 defeat away to Lens, who were beaten 6-0 by Arsenal in the Champions League in midweek.
Olympique Lyonnais parted company with manager Fabio Grosso on Thursday with the club sitting bottom of the Ligue 1 standings.
The 46-year-old has been replaced by academy coach Pierre Sage, temporarily at least, and the hope was that they would experience the famous 'managerial bounce' against Lens.
But it wasn't to be despite the best efforts of O'Brien, who fired home from a corner to give his side the lead in the 15th minute.
The former Cork City defender's second of the evening would also come from a set-piece which drew his side level in the 72nd minute, although reports suggest his error led to one of the goals his side let in earlier in proceedings.
A game with many emotions, but disappointing result. Thank you to the travelling fans ❤️
We go again Wednesday!
