Former Arsenal centre-back Martin Keown believes Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite will need to take lessons about his body positioning after Manchester City's Erling Haaland scored the home side's second in a 2-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.
Sitting in the stands, Everton boss Sean Dyche will have been happy with what he saw from his team for large parts of the clash with City. However, the Blues were undone twice with 20 minutes to go as last season's champions took home the three points.
Haaland bagged his first of the afternoon as he fired the ball past Jordan Pickford following a scramble in the box. The Norwegian then made sure of the points with five minutes to go as he slotted past Pickford one-on-one.

The result was unfortunate for the Blues considering how well they played but analysing the final goal, Keown told Match of the Day how he felt it could have been prevented. "This is a young player in Branthwaite who was playing exceptionally well and for me he just looks over the wrong shoulder for too long," he explained.
"He is looking at the ball as [Kevin] De Bruyne gets on it and we know he has to be red alert as there is danger all around you. Haaland is quick, strong and he is making a really good run - his movement, I have to say, is excellent.
"But when you take a look at Branthwaite, he sets his body up sideways on and he is looking for that run there. At this point, as that run starts to come across back the other way, I think he should be turning his body shape towards Haaland and he doesn’t do it.
