Jerry Jones has expressed he is "all in" for the 2024 season, but the Dallas Cowboys owner remains confident in his club.
Speaking with local media members at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine on Friday night, Jones said he believes the Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott's play "can be better" in this upcoming season.
"We just have in mind the team that's going on the field this year," Jones said, via Todd Archer of ESPN. "And we all know that every team in this league has limitations as far as where they are on the cap and where they are in the draft and where they are with their free agents, who they can use the franchise tag. You only have one. All of those kinds of things.
"But my point is that we can be better. Dak [Prescott] can play better than he has maybe, we could argue one of the best years he's ever had in his career. But the good news is, I'm convinced that he can play better and I'm convinced that we can do some things better all the way around and so we're all in."
The Cowboys had a disappointing end to the 2023 campaign after losing in the Super Wild Card Round to the Packers at AT&T Stadium. In terms of being better, Jones is alluding to the Cowboys' recent playoff runs, which have extended the club's ongoing failure since 1995 of getting past the Divisional Round.
Dallas is coming off a third consecutive 12-win season but has questions looming with free agency to retain key free agents like running back Tony Pollard and cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Longtime left tackle Tyron Smith is unlikely to return as he enters free agency, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday, and three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver CeeDee Lamb could also seek a contract extension this offseason.
