Kate Abdo's boyfriend, former heavyweight boxer Malik Scott, has issued a warning to Jamie Carragher and has promised he'll "show up in a physical manner" if the ex Liverpool star ever makes an inappropriate comment that upsets her.
Earlier this month, following Arsenal's thrilling Champions League victory over Porto, Carragher made a tasteless joke at the expense of his colleague Abdo. While wearing an Arsenal shirt, the Liverpool legend suggested that Abdo should be the next one to wear the top. But Abdo, who is a loyal supporter of Manchester United, Arsenal's long-time rivals, insisted she wouldn't do that.
Carragher then questioned Abdo's relationship with Deontay Wilder's trainer Malik Scott, saying: "Not to Malik". This comment was met with awkward reactions from fellow pundits Thierry Henry and Micah Richards. Now, Scott himself has responded. Speaking to Lord Ping, the boxing trainer said: "The only problem I have with things like that is if Kate feels some kind of way about it, she handled it very well.", reports the Mirror.
"I thought Jamie was just being himself, sometimes he can have a runny mouth, sometimes he's not that good at reading the room, sometimes he's someone that can make beyond sarcastic jokes and it comes across as digging a little bit, especially if you're dealing with a woman. But I don't take it personal, it did not enter our home, it really was nothing, but in those types of situations my concern is more about Kate and her feelings, she is someone I'm very much in love with, so once I saw how she handled it, me and her discussed it, and that was that."
