Jose Mourinho has once more attracted plenty of attention after getting around in Saudi Arabia over the weekend. As he continues to be linked with new jobs across the world ahead of the summer, the 61-year-old was busy in the Middle East.
Attending the Egypt Cup alongside Ronaldo Nazario and Francesco Totti, Mourinho carried the trophy out for the final on Friday. He then took himself to the first Formula One race of the year on Saturday for the qualifying round. He was also at the Anthony Joshua vs Frances Ngannou boxing fight in Riyadh too.
It has followed a whirlwind couple of months for the Portuguese man. He was sacked by Roma in January with the Italian club ninth in Serie A and has already been linked with a host of major roles since.
Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle, and potential international vacancies with England, Saudi Arabia, and USA, have all been mentioned too. Now, it has emerged that Mourinho met with Saudi Public Investment Fund governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan while at the F1 in Jeddah.
Images have shown the former Chelsea, United, and Tottenham boss shaking hands with the big-name chief in the pit lanes, even if just for a brief second. Although on the face of it just a meeting of two popular names in the Middle East, there is a deeper connection.
Al-Rumayyan is involved with Newcastle as the chairman having been part of the takeover group with PIF and Amanda Stavely in 2021. The Geordies have been one of the sides most linked with Mourinho as pressure on Eddie Howe mounts after a struggle of a second full season in charge.
