Jose Mourinho offered new job amid Chelsea return links and Mauricio Pochettino pressure

Former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly been offered a job at Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah.

Mourinho has won everything there is to win in domestic football with three Premier Leagues, two Champions Leagues, La Liga, two Serie As and the Europa League among the trophies on his CV. However, the self-proclaimed 'Special One' has been out of work since January after being sacked by AS Roma.

In that time, the 61-year-old has been heavily linked with a third stint at Stamford Bridge. Current boss Mauricio Pochettino has been under pressure this season after the Blues struggled to keep up with the pace of those in the top four.

Chelsea could still qualify for the Europa League next season but that, coupled with a Carabao Cup final appearance and a run to the FA Cup semi-finals may not be enough to guarantee his job security. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, if Todd Boehly does want to bring Mourinho back he will need to act quickly.

«Nothing is done yet, but he is their top choice as they look to challenge the PIF-controlled clubs (Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, Al Nassr and Al Hilal) — two of whom are also pushing for Jose,» Jacobs explained. «Mourinho is due in Khobar, where Qadsiah plays, in late May as part of a scheduled visit to view the club.»

If Mourinho does move to the Middle East he will join the likes of Steven Gerrard and Nuno Espirito Santo as Premier League bosses who have switched to the Saudi Pro League.
