The Reds dominated their bitter-rivals at Old Trafford, but wasted a plethora of chances as they conceded the lead and required a late Mohamed Salah penalty to rescue a share of the spoils.
While they had been two points clear at the top of the table prior to the latest round of fixtures, and three points ahead of Man City in third, they now trail leaders Arsenal on goal-difference and sit just a point above Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions.
