Jurgen Klopp has dismissed the notion that in-form Alexis Mac Allister is not being used in his "best position" at Liverpool as the manager hailed the midfielder's contributions this season.
Mac Allister was widely regarded as a more advanced midfielder when he joined the club for £35m from Brighton last summer but the Argentina international has been predominantly as a defensive shield in front of the defence in the Premier League, occasionally being moved forward when Wataru Endo has also been selected.
Despite having to get to grips with a new role at Anfield, Mac Allister has been excellent in recent weeks and scored his second goal for the club in Saturday's 4-1 win at Brentford when operating as a more traditional attacking midfielder.
Klopp rejected the suggestion there is a favoured role for the World Cup winner as he lifted the lift on what is demanded of his versatile squad at all times.

"Attackers have to defend and defenders have to attack, that is the best way to describe it. Alexis is just incredibly important for us and he always was since he's been here.
