Jurgen Klopp reveals what Arsenal transfer target Ivan Toney told him after Liverpool win
Ivan Toney had an on-pitch chat with Jurgen Klopp after Brentford's 4-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.
Despite Brentford's heavy loss, Toney, who managed to score for the hosts, passed on his best wishes to Klopp ahead the German manager's exit from Liverpool at the end of the season.
Klopp cherished the gesture and said it was not the first time a player had wished him well. He said: «It was like I was smiling at him, as he's obviously quite a handful and really tricky to play against — although I used a different word. Am I right that he's a Liverpool supporter and he's not shy of saying that? I can admit it as well.
»We spoke a little bit about that and he wished me good luck for my time after. A lot of people have said it, a lot of players. It's not necessary, but it's nice when you hear it. Nobody has to worry — I will find something, a place to watch the Premier League. It was a nice conversation.
Toney, who recently returned from a long ban after breaching betting rules, is being linked with a summer move to Arsenal while Chelsea are also reported to be interest in the striker. The 27-year-old has scored 72 goals in 129 games for Brentford.
Klopp is looking forward to the big game at Wembley where Liverpool could win against Chelsea, just like last year. But he's worried because Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez, and Diogo Jota got hurt in their last match. Alisson Becker and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also not playing right now.
