Promotion chasing UCD remained undefeated in their last four as a stubborn Kerry side came from behind to earn their fifth draw in a row.
Having seen league leaders Cork City drop points earlier in the day the unchanged hosts failed to close the gap at the top having led through man-of-the-match Ciaran Behan only to be pegged back by a Daniel Okwute second half strike.
The visitors, still searching for their first win of the new season, looked good throughout with former Student’s youth team striker, Victor Udeze, proving a handful early on as neither team shirked from the physical battle.
But chances remained sparse until a quarter of an hour played when Cian Brosnan showed great vision from the centre circle as the winger looked to catch Kian Moore off his line but got the connection just wrong.
The pendulum swung back in the Students favour as they forced a couple of corners, one of which fell kindly to Michael McCullagh at the edge of the area resulting in a tremendous full stretch stop by Croatian keeper Antonio Tuta.
Unfortunately their Croat stopper couldn't bail them out again minutes later as Behan found a yard of space just right of the area, and on his powerful left foot, smashed home the opener for his fourth of the season.
But the visitors stunned the in-form hosts just before the hour mark when Okwute cross/shot caught Moore off guard at the near post to level proceedings.
