As reported by L’Équipe, PSG forward Kylian Mbappé will stay at the Ligue 1 champions this summer after a transfer window filled with speculation over his future.
Mbappé, now 24, had been excluded from coach Luis Enrique’s squad during pre-season and was forced to train with the so-called ‘undesirables,’ who have been deemed surplus to requirements by the club. The France captain was not included on PSG’s recent tour of Asia, as Paris bosses believed he had a deal to join Real Madrid at the end of his contract next summer after submitting a letter to the club stating he would not sign another deal (or be transferred this summer) and thus would leave for free.
Today, however, it has emerged that Mbappé has re-joined the senior squad following the 0-0 draw with Lorient last night, with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi personally informing the group of the change this morning at the club’s new training ground. He told the players that “Kylian is invested in the club” and is now at the disposal of Enrique once more.
Mbappé has confirmed he will not leave for free internally to club officials but, paradoxically, this does not mean he’ll sign a new deal – although reports suggest he is open to the idea. However, he should now remain at PSG this summer and not be transferred before the end of the window, confirm the sports daily, with the striker expected to return against Toulouse next week.
