Latest Chelsea injury news with 11 to miss Sheffield United amid Christopher Nkunku debut update
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to take advantage of debutant Christopher Nkunku to get his side back on track as they host struggling Sheffield United this afternoon at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues could finally see the French international make his first appearances for the club since he arrived in the summer transfer window. Nkunku has long been teasing his return to football with photos and videos of him working out in the gym and on the training pitch after he suffered a knee problem in preseason for the Blues against Borussia Dortmund.
However, Mauricio Pochettino highlighted the 26-year-old's readiness in his press conference this afternoon. He said: «He can be involved, that is very good news. He will be involved tomorrow in the squad and he'll start to feel the competition, feel the Premier League and his teammates.
»Of course, it's very good news for us but we need to be calm and quiet because it'll put all the pressure on him. He needs to evolve, know the Premier League, the competition but it'll be a big motivation for us, the team, teh fans to see a player that will be important for us."
Elsewhere the Blues will be missing captain Reece James for the clash after he suffered another hamstring issue early in the first half against Everton last weekend. The star could require surgery to fix the problem in the long-term with Pochettino admitting the star is very down after being hit with a new issue.
He said: «From the beginning, we've been hit under different circumstances. This one is an important circumstance but we need to stay strong because the competition doesn't stop and we need to compete.
