Linfield manager David Healy has stated that he will not approach free agents to plug gaps in his squad
John Robertson has returned to Scotland following a brief stint with Linfield
Defender Jack Scott has departed Linfield just five months after returning to Windsor Park in the summer of 2023
David Healy is waiting for January to replace the two players who left Windsor Park by mutual consent this week.
Jack Scott and John Robertson both departed the south Belfast club barely five months after joining the Blues in the summer.
Their exits have not affected Linfield on the pitch and their 3-0 win over Newry City yesterday was their ninth in succession.
But Healy has an injury list to worry about and moved to sign Dane McCullough as a free agent last month.
The Blues manager told Sunday Life Sport it was unlikely he would sign another unattached player and he will wait until the transfer window opens in January.
“The likelihood – the strong likelihood – is nothing will be done before January,” said Healy. “We are where we are.
“With the numbers that we have in the squad, it was a decision that was made and, yes, of course, we’re looking to January.
“We’ve Ryan McKay, Jordan Stewart, Robbie McDaid and Stevie Fallon missing at the minute, which isn’t helping us, so the sooner we get numbers back, the better.
“We are short at the minute, so we need to minimise suspensions and injuries.
“There may be one or two come January if we have the right resources, but we are certainly looking ahead to that.
“Dane was about pre-season, I think he’d been to a few clubs searching for an opportunity before we signed him.”
