I felt the full force of Jurgen Klopp's extreme aura after Liverpool victory
Toulouse forward Niklas Schmidt has admitted he felt the 'extreme aura' of Jurgen Klopp during his side’s recent Europa League clash against Liverpool.
The Reds reached the last 16 of the Europa League as group winners with a victory over LASK at Anfield on Thursday night. A double from Cody Gakpo and further goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah secured Klopp’s side a 4-0 victory.
However, in their previous Europa League fixture, a controversial video assistant referee decision denied Liverpool a stoppage-time equaliser as they suffered a surprise loss to Toulouse at Stadium TFC. Jarell Quansah's goal to make it 3-3 in the seventh minute of added time was ruled out after Alexis Mac Allister was judged to have handled the ball.
The Reds had fallen behind to goals by Aron Donnum and Thijs Dallinga before an own goal from Cristian Casseres handed Klopp’s side a lifeline. But substitute Magri restored his side’s two-goal advantage before Diogo Jota netted a late consolation.

And reflecting on his first meeting with Klopp, Schmidt, speaking to German publication Kicker, said: “We didn’t say much to each other, other than a “hello,” but I felt very small being right next to him.
“You usually only see him on TV, but he seems much bigger. You can just feel his extreme aura.
“There are also a lot of players who say that he is an incredibly good coach, even though they haven’t played that much under him – if you can manage that, you really haven’t done much wrong.”
