Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gets Arsenal wish granted after 'ignorant' pundit spat

The date and time of Arsenal's highly-anticipated FA Cup third round clash with Liverpool has been confirmed by the FA. The Gunners were handed a tough draw to kick-off their domestic cup campaign earlier this week as they look to win the competition for the first time since 2020.

Mikel Arteta's men entered the competition alongside the rest of the Premier League and Championship sides in Monday's draw. However, they were drawn against their Premier League title rivals while the likes of Manchester City, Aston Villa and Manchester United all received kinder ties.

The clash was originally scheduled to take place across the weekend of January 6/7 — a week after the Gunners' trip to Fulham to face Craven Cottage in the Premier League. The cup-tie was rescheduled for Sunday, January 7 (4.30pm kick-off) as the only game on the Sunday.

News of the extra day of preparation will come as a boost for both clubs, with the Christmas period providing the pair with tight schedules. The Reds play on New Years Day at home to Newcastle, giving them six days to prepare for the trip to the Emirates Stadium.

As is well documented, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has never hid away from showing his anger at fixture congestion in England. Earlier this season, the German blasted the Premier League and television companies for scheduling Liverpool's title-clash with Manchester City for Saturday lunchtime, the first game after the international break. «How can you put a game like on Saturday at 12.30pm?,» he asked.
