Jurgen Klopp slams Liverpool fans and warns Mikel Arteta of touchline argument in Arsenal clash

Jurgen Klopp watched his Liverpool side demolish West Ham 5-1 to earn a spot in the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday night. But he was not a happy man afterwards.

The German was very happy with the performance and the result, but took aim at the Liverpool supporters in the aftermath of the contest. Klopp was less than impressed with the atmosphere and admitted to being concerned ahead of the huge Premier League title game with Arsenal this weekend.

Klopp said: «I thought in the first half when the boys played really exceptionally, I was not overly happy with the atmosphere behind me. I asked people what do they want? We changed a lot of things and we dominated West Ham like crazy and missed chances.

»If I was in the stands I would be on my toes, 1,000%. I don’t know, if the Man United game was that bad that we have to say sorry we didn’t smash them?"

Klopp went on to say he could not «have an argument» with Mikel Arteta to get everyone on their feet. He added: «We need Anfield on Saturday. Arsenal didn’t play this week. They’ve prepared for this game and anyone who knows anything about them knows they will be prepared.

»So we need Anfield on their toes from the first second, without me having an argument with the opposition coach."

Arteta has already picked up four cautions for his behaviour on the touchline this season, so is no stranger to controversy, should Klopp court an «argument». But the nature of the clash, with it being first against second at Anfield, should ensure the supporters are behind both teams from the outset.
