Jack Scott savoured a debut goal when Linfield overcame Vllaznia in the Europa Conference League
New boy Jack Scott insists he’ll not forget his Linfield debut.
The 20-year-old, signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers over the summer, required merely 66 minutes to open his goal account in the Europa Conference League tie against Vllaznia at Windsor Park earlier this month.
Having come through the Linfield academy before moving across to England, Tandragee man Scott was aware of the standards required when you pull on the blue jersey.
“I knew some of the boys from when I was at the club in my younger days, I also knew the gaffer (David Healy) a little bit,” he says. “I’ve got on really well with the boys since my return.
“I was part of the academy, part of the 2002 team when we won everything. I moved to England when I was doing my GCSEs at 16. Chris McKee was in the side as well.
“To be honest, I really loved it in England. I had three great years, but I was injured for most of my final season and it got to me a little bit.
“We were treated really well at the Wolves Academy, everything was set on a plate for us. It was a disappointment having to leave, but I knew I was coming back to a huge club.
“It gave me the chance to show what I can do. Hopefully, in the long run, I’ll get a chance to go back across the water. I’m only 20, so still young enough.
“Trai Hume is one of my best mates and he got the chance, he’s now playing week in, week out for Sunderland.”
On that memorable first appearance, Scott goes on: “I’ll always remember my debut — scoring at Windsor Park was a dream come true.
“The roar that went up when the third goal went in was unbelievable.
