Kyle McClean joined Linfield in 2019
Kyle McClean is set to agree a new Linfield deal, killing off interest from rivals.
The midfielder’s impressive form has caught the eye of top sides including champions Larne but he looks set to extend his stay at Windsor Park.
McClean agreed a contract extension in December 2021 committing his future to the club until the end of the 2023-24 season.
Blues boss David Healy has several players coming to the end of their contracts this year and McClean was one of them. “I am delighted to announce that Kyle has signed a new deal with us to keep him at the club for a further two years,” said Healy.
“Kyle has been an integral part of the squad for just over five years and he is having a fantastic season to date.”
McClean joined Linfield on loan from St Johnstone in January 2019 and was released by the Scottish club at the end of August that year.
He started his career with Crusaders and also had a spell with Nottingham Forest before moving to Scotland.
Carrick Rangers midfielder Josh Andrews has joined Ards on loan.
The 19-year-old has made 20 appearances for the ‘Gers and now links up with John Bailie’s side until the end of their Playr-Fit Championship campaign.
Gers boss Stuart King said: “I think this is a great opportunity for Josh to go out and get as much game time in senior football as possible.
“He has done really well so far and has been rewarded with a long term deal. This will add to his development and hopefully he comes back in pre-season with a lot more experience.”
Former Cliftonville goalkeeper Luke McNicholas has completed a permanent move to Wrexham from Sligo Rovers.
