Lionel Messi and Inter Miami return to Major League Soccer action this month as they get their 2024 season underway.
Messi has had a turbulent preseason, to say the least, as it was marked by controversy over his injury rest. The Argentina star had been involved for some of Inter Miami's two-game Riyadh Season Cup spell in Saudi Arabia — in which they conceded 10 goals across their two matches — but we never got to see the highly anticipated "Last Dance" between Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi as the Portugal star also suffered an injury.
But that can all be put to one side soon, with competitive football back on the agenda for Messi and the Florida franchise, beginning with the return of MLS in February. There is just one friendly match to go until then — and it could be a special one for the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner.
