After defeating Real Salt Lake in their 2024 MLS opener, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami now visit Los Angeles Galaxy - a team who, like the Floridians, are aiming to return to the playoffs this season.
At Chase Stadium on Wednesday, goals by Robert Taylor and Diego Gómez earned a 2-0 victory for a Miami side that had endured indifferent preseason results, winning just once in seven MLS warm-ups.
The Galaxy also managed just the one victory in preseason - a 2-0 triumph at New York Red Bulls on 17 February, in their final friendly before kicking off their campaign this weekend.
In 2023, Miami and LA both missed out on the playoffs by finishing second bottom of their respective MLS conferences.
