Nicolas Jackson has had to lead the Chelsea line regularly this season, when he may have expected to feel his way into a new league. A pre-season injury to Christopher Nkunku may have thrust the Senegalese into the spotlight a bit earlier than he might have expected and while things have not been entirely rosy for the 22-year-old, he has shown glimpses of his quality.
Chief among those glimpses came in the 4-1 defeat of fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur, with Jackson netting a hat-trick against the Lilywhites — his first in England. There have been down times too though.
Chelsea are 11th in the Premier League table — bad news in itself for a club like the Blues — and Jackson has eight Premier League goals to his name now after the header in the 2-2 draw with Brentford at the weekend. It was his 11th in all competitions.
But the forward, who has also been caught offside more times than any other player this season — 21 — could have had more. A whole lot more.
He has often been derided by pundits and fans for the misses in front of goal. But let's not forget he is a young man coming to a new league, with plenty of pressure on his shoulders.
And he himself has been honest in his assessment of his first season in England. Speaking to the club's official website he said: «It's not enough because I have missed a lot.
