On that front, Spanish publication Relevo reports that it is the 40-year-old's desire to take the next step in his post-playing career by coaching at an elite level.
He has been in charge of Atletico Madrid's Under-19s side for the last three years. The current campaign has seen his youth team lead their division, seven points ahead of cross-city rivals Real Madrid.
