The golf venture that Fenway Sports Group invested in earlier this year has been postponed until 2025.
The six-team TGL competition that is being launched by golf stars Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports venture, was set to tee off on January 9, debuting on ESPN before the season reached a conclusion in April ahead of the Masters.
Liverpool owners FSG had acquired one of the six franchises in the competition back in June, with the firm taking up the second ownership option of a team for the Boston and New England region, with the team having since been named Boston Common Golf.

But the competition has been postponed by 12 months until January 2025 after the venue for the competition in Florida, the So-Fi Dome, was damaged following a power system failure that saw part of the air-supported dome to deflate. With the competition a matter of weeks away, and with the time frame to fix the problem throwing the schedule into doubt, a decision was made, with the agreement of all six team owners, to postpone until 2025.
"The postponement brings mixed feelings of disappointment and excitement," McIlroy told ESPN.
"Above all, we are happy that no one was injured. Given the circumstances, while the delay is disappointing, the postponement will allow us to regroup, refocus and return stronger."
