Liverpool, PSG and Dortmund interested in Porto’s Alan Varela
According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are all interested in signing Porto defensive midfielder Alan Varela (22) in the summer transfer window.
The Argentine midfielder has impressed immensely for the Portuguese side since arriving in the summer of 2023. The former Boca Juniors midfielder’s impressive start to life in Europe has caused some of Europe’s elite clubs to sit up and take notice.
Varela has been almost irreplaceable for Porto this season. The 22-year-old has played 30 matches for the Portuguese giants across all competitions, becoming a major part of how Sérgio Conceição wants his Porto team to play. The Argentine has 2 goals and 2 assists thus far this season.
If Liverpool, PSG or Dortmund are to successfully sign Varela, they will have to match the release clause in his Porto contract. According to Foot Mercato, the defensive midfielder’s release clause is valued at €70m in the summer transfer window.
