Nearly three weeks into the January transfer window and it’s shaping up to be a quiet month for Liverpool.
As things stand, the Reds look set to be inactive in the winter market for the first time since 2019. Consequently, the only transfer action at Anfield over the past three weeks has been the recall of loanees with the majority, like Fabio Carvalho, then being sent out temporarily elsewhere.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Liverpool’s trip to AFC Bournemouth, Jurgen Klopp would concede he isn’t expecting that to change during the final week and a half of the window.
“A sporting director like Jorg helped a lot in the last window, definitely,” he said. “But you are right, at the moment it looks like it will be a quiet window, I can guarantee that, but at the moment it is all fine.”

Of course, it’s not just the Reds who are navigating a quiet January. From the 20 Premier League sides, only Brentford, Burnley, Sheffield United, and Tottenham Hotspur have completed a senior incoming signing. And with Sergio Reguilon, David Datro Fofana, Ben Brereton Diaz, and Timo Werner all loan arrivals, it leaves Spurs' £25m capture of Radu Dragusin from Genoa as the only permanent buy.
Admittedly, the Reds’ inactivity so far is no surprise. After all, club sources dismissed the possibility of the club strengthening in midfield in November, before Klopp ruled out signing a new centre-back last month.
Besides, even with all their injury woes this year, Liverpool still boast a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, hold a 2-1
