Liverpool are targeting Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch (21) to bolster their defensive midfield options, according to a report this Wednesday from Foot Mercato.
The 21-year-old is only playing a peripheral role in Thomas Tuchel’s side following his €18m move from Ajax Amsterdam one year ago. The Dutch midfielder is tied to the Bundesliga champions with a contract set to expire in 2027. Gravenberch was an unused substitute during Bayern’s DFL-Supercup 3-0 humbling at the hands of RB Leipzig last week.
The AFC Ajax youth product would be keen on a move to gain playing time. According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool have reactivated their pursuit of Gravenberch. The Reds are in serious need of a defensive midfielder after their failure to land Chelsea-bound Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. However, the outlet understands that Liverpool’s bitter rivals Manchester United are also keen on Gravenberch with the latter reportedly favouring a move to Old Trafford. Foot Mercato adds that neither Liverpool nor Manchester United have submitted a bid to their Bayern counterparts.
