Luis Enrique has denied the reports of a rift between him and Kylian Mbappé (25) after the forward was pictured visibly frustrated with the decision to substitute him during last weekend’s Le Classique.
The forward has come to expect early substitutions in Ligue 1 games. Still, the derby between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille is a special occasion, and according to reports earlier today, his camp had expected him to play the entire match .
They saw the substitution as a mark of “ disrespect ” from the Spanish manager, and there were even suggestions that the forward had sworn at his coach when he saw that his night was once again scheduled to finish early.
Despite this, Luis Enrique speaking ahead of his club’s semi-final in the Coupe de France against Stade Rennais tomorrow evening, has blasted these stories. “ What’s curious is when news is generated when it’s a lie. ” The manager continued, “ Someone somewhere invented an insult and from there, there is all kinds of speculation. ”
He addressed Mbappé’s behaviour, in particular, praising the forward, “ I’m very happy with all my players, Kylian Mbappé included. I would love for it to end well for PSG and also for Kylian. We’re all in the same boat looking for the port of success. He’s always behaved spectacularly and continues to do so .”
