Lyon boss Fabio Grosso has revealed the gruesome facial injuries that needed 13 stitches after Marseille fans attacked the team bus.
Lyon had travelled to the south of France to face Marseille at the Stade Velodrome in a Ligue 1 match on Sunday night.
However, the game was called off after thugs attacked the Lyon team bus as it made its way through the city, with rocks smashing the windows.
It led to Grosso being seriously injured, and requiring urgent medical attention.
The Italian needed stitches after glass hit him in the eye, leading to a nasty-looking injury.
But Grosso looked in high spirits as he showed off his battle wounds, though his eye was severely swollen and his face was badly scarred.
Grosso was not the only one to be injured with his assistant coach, Raffaelle Longo, also being hit.
They needed emergency treatment when they reached the Velodrome as a decision on whether or not the match would go ahead was deliberated.
Pictures emerged of the Lyon coach covered in blood before the match was eventually abandoned by league officials.
French police have since arrested nine people in connection with the incident.
And they are still on the lookout for further suspects on a sorry night for French football.
Lyon president John Textor was absolutely furious and told Prime Video: «He (Grosso) can't hold a conversation, he had shards of glass in his face.
»I'm very angry. Our players, our coach prepared for tonight and the fans wanted to see the game played.
«Once the window was broken, other projectiles hit him, just above the eye. There were beer bottles, which hit him on the forehead.»
Marseille have also condemned the actions and written a statement.
