Sports finance expert Rob Wilson has made a prediction about the 115 Financial Fair Play charges against Manchester City, as Premier League rivals continue to wait. He believes that not all of the charges will be heard by the Premier League's independent commission, and he thinks it's even less likely that the club will be forced to be relegated.
Manchester City were charged more than a year ago with 115 breaches of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) between 2009 and 2018. This charge was something no other club had faced before, leading to rumours that if found guilty, the club could be relegated.
The Citizens have always maintained their innocence regarding these charges. Meanwhile, both Everton and Nottingham Forest have been charged by the Premier League for breaching PSR rules, but on a smaller scale.
Everton lost six points after an appeal, and Forest lost four points. However, Forest announced on Monday evening that they would also be appealing the ruling.
In a chat with Grosvenor Sport, Wilson tried to calm any worries that City fans might have about their team dropping into the Championship or lower. Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham will all be watching on interestedly with City consistently challenging at the top of the Premier League table.
Chelsea supporters will also be lookingon given the scale of transfer spending that has taken place at Stamford Bridge since Todd Boehly's arrrival at the club.
