Gael Clichy gives honest verdict on Man City FFP charges as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham wait

Gael Clichy has strongly defended Manchester City's success under Pep Guardiola, despite having 115 Financial Fair Play charges hanging over them. City are locked in another battle for the Premier League title this season with Clichy's other former club Arsenal and Liverpool.

Manchester City have been a dominant force in English football over the past decade, winning five out of the last six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four Carabao Cups under Guardiola's leadership. However, the club is facing accusations from the Premier League of misrepresenting their finances to increase their revenues over nine seasons.

This period includes Guardiola's time at the club and title wins under Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini.

Despite these serious allegations, the club maintain their innocence and questions have been raised about the legitimacy of City's success. Both Guardiola and Clichy, who played for the Blues for six years after leaving Arsenal, have strongly denied that the achievements of the players and coach can be undermined.

«Even if you have money, telling your players to run 13 kilometres is not easy, telling your players to go and win a cup again, it's not easy,» Clichy told Super 6. «As humans, once we have achieved something, it's very difficult to get motivated again.
