Manchester United-linked Mathys Tel has signed a contract extension at Bayern Munich.
Recent reports in Germany claimed that the Red Devils had expressed an interest in signing the striker who has scored seven goals in all competitions so far this season. It was claimed that United had made contact over a potential move for Tel with Premier League rivals Arsenal also said to have been interested.
But the 18-year-old has committed his future to the Bundesliga champions, after extending his contract to June 2029. Upon signing the new deal Tel told the Bayern website: “This contract extension means a lot to me. I've already learnt a lot at Bayern, both on and off the pitch. Munich has become a home for me and my family, and the fans are also very important to me. I can't be the player I am without them. When you play for Bayern, you always want to win every trophy. I want to score and set up goals, play with heart and energy for Bayern, and give everything for this club and its fans.”
With Tel now seemingly off the shortlist, the Manchester Evening News has taken a look at some other potential strikers United have been linked with ahead of a vital summer at Old Trafford...
