According to Foot Mercato , Manchester City wants to reach an agreement with West Ham for midfielder Lucas Paquetá (26) without meeting the release clause which is thought to be worth €85 million.
The two clubs had previously agreed to a deal for the player last summer, with City at time willing to meet the clause for the former Olympique Lyonnais midfielder. However, the deal broke down at the last minute after the FA revealed that they had begun an investigation into the player for alleged betting breaches.
It has since been reported that City have remained interested in the Brazilian international with personal terms having already been agreed upon for a move to City at the end of the season.
All that remains is a deal to be forged with West Ham who will be reluctant to lose a player that has become vital for the side since his move from Ligue 1 for less than his release clause.
