Manchester City have placed Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard (27) at the top of their shortlist, in the increasingly likely scenario that England international Kyle Walker (33) heads in the other direction to the Bavarian giants, according to a report this Friday afternoon from Fabrizio Romano.
The 2018 World Cup winner with France is expected to part ways with Bayern Munich as he is entering the final year of his contract. Pavard is not entertaining the prospect of renewing his contract with the Thomas Tuchel-led side. As an experienced, versatile defender – Pavard is able to play as a right-back or centre-back – and the Frenchman could be a smart addition to Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning Manchester City side.
Romano understands that City will entertain a move for Pavard should Walker leave. The former Tottenham right-back is heavily linked with a move to Bayern. Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg broke the news this Friday that Walker had reached a total verbal agreement with Bayern over a two-year deal, that includes an option for a further year. Talks are expected to take place between the Citizens and Der Rekordmeister to sort out the futures of both Walker and Pavard in the coming hours.
